What scale is this on guitar?
on my guitar, I learned how to play a simple part of a song, and I'm now wondering what scale is. 0-2-3-5-7-9-10-12 on the high E string. In the chain A, I have 0-2-3-5 and this is the video of the song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBnpzy-cTxw Its just the intro of the song with the guitar I'm trying to figure out. I already know how to play, but I want to know what scale is being used, because then I learned how to play, I messed around with the song, and discovered part of the scale on the guitar, and I am able to play with it and do some good things in resonance. I do not know the name of the scale I am using. I hope to find out, so I can learn the rest of it. indeed, the song starts about 27 seconds in the video. and I know its not considered a classical music, but I decided to put this here because I figured this place would know more about the scales
Well, let's see what notes you've got there. In the E string: E, F #, G, A, B, C #, D, E On the A string: A, B, C, D So you have a different tone: A, B, C, C #, D, E, F #, G could be one of several scales: D major, minor, B harmonic minor edit: I took a look at the chords of the following site: http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/r/ricardo_arjona/mojado_crd.htm If correct, it looks like the song itself (after the intro) begins in C # minor then shifts to the parallel major, C # major halfway through. Most chords are chords of C # Major during most of the song, however. No I have my guitar with me right now, or I'd be able to tell better. Just listening to the guitar intro, I can safely say that * is * starts and ends in G B, sounds like you're trying to return to C. It also contains an Eb and Bb. So I'll go with C minor for the introduction. Are you sure your guitar is tuned to E standard tuning, not a half step?
